Adam Ferrier, Jim Ingram and Ben Couzens left Cummins & Partners in March to create something new.
That something is called Thinkerbell (a combination of Tinkerbell and The Thinker). The name is meant to convey that the new agency is “the coming together of scientific enquiry and brilliant creativity – or as we like to call it Measured Magic”. Measured Magic is explained in slightly more prosaic terms as “brand led ideas throughout the entire customer experience, from insights to execution”.
Ferrier joined Cummins&Partners when it was still CumminsRoss as chief strategy officer in 2013 from Naked where he had been chief strategy officer and founding partner. He was at Naked for nearly a decade and at Saatchi & Saatchi for two years prior to that. Before he entered agency life, Ferrier was a psychologist.
Ingram and Couzens joined Cummins&Partners together at the beginning of 2014. They had come from Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, where they were joint executive creative directors. Both had joined Clemenger in 2011 from GPY&R Melbourne, where they were creative directors.
Each of the three helped agencies, Naked Communications, Cummins & Partners, and/or Clemenger BBDO, to be Agency of The Year Grand Prix winners during their times there.
Ingram stated, “I couldn’t be happier that we’re doing our own thing and my mum is particularly chuffed. We’re creating an agency that hits the sweet spot for what businesses need these days and a working environment great people will be drawn to. There will probably be a launch party down the track, and some more information about what we are up to will follow, but for now we just want to let you know the shingle is out, and we’re open for business.”
When asked, Elon Musk and Dolly Parton said, “I think we’re at the dawn of a new era…” and “…what a way to make a living.”
