The commercials by Manila agency, Gigil, for RC Cola are absolutely bizarre. Bizarre and viral hits. If the idea is to stand out and attract attention, the partners have excelled at their ambition. Now there is a third spot to make you wonder. It’s a love story between a woman and a pair of dentures and the dentures have a philandering past. Never mind that the story is overtly weird, the bravery (or strangeness) extends to the fact that soft drinks are known to be bad for teeth.
The spot promotes RC Cola’s new bottle with 37ml more.
It too, has gone viral, even more rapidly than its predecessors. It won 1 million organic views overnight on Facebook, and more than 200,000 online engagements.
Like the earlier commercials, this one mirrors the “basta” (whatever, in English) approach to life of its Gen Z audience, for which living in the moment and not needing a list of reasons to do or buy something rules.
