Love clever ads? This one brilliantly layered spot by Grey London for Vodafone Ireland should light your fires. It’s a metaphor for the very relatable family grab for the remote, which illustrates the excitement and the breadth of Vodafone’s TV Play range of entertainment, that is told through a metaphor – scenes from Vodafone TV Play’s shows in which characters fight for treasured objects.

The high-energy 105-second commercial, Remote, plays across a range of movie genres showing family fights for control of an object – a wad of cash (gangster movie), a jewelled sceptre (Viking movie), a strange beeping object (sci-fi movie). Eventually, the commercial lands in reality to show that it’s actually a family fighting for the remote.

The spot was directed by Stink London director, Tom Green.
Watch the 60-second version:
“The launch of Vodafone TV PLAY is a huge moment for the brand, landing them a player in the crowded home entertainment space,” commented David Wigglesworth, Grey London executive creative director. “To do this with credibility we needed to show up with the same level of cinematic gravitas that audiences expect from their entertainment, but with a twist – the humanity and connection that sits at the heart of the brand’s DNA. We dramatised how Vodafone TV PLAY’s amazing content, sound and picture can bring everyone together, even a family squabbling over the remote on family movie night.”
The full campaign will run for several months across TV, cinema, digital audio, out-of-home, print, digital and social.
