Haven’t You Done Well, the Australian production company with an unforgettable name, has added attention-magnet directors, Will&Sej (aka Will Suen and Sejon Im) for commercial representation across Asia-Pacific. Founded by Australian comedy group, Aunty Donna, HYDWP is an award-winning, comedy specialist production company for advertising, online and traditional entertainment.
Once described as “dirtier than your mom’s secret drawer and gnarlier than that box your dad hides in the attic”, Will&Sej first met on Facebook Marketplace. Will was buying, he asked for a discount. Sej didn’t budge. Since then, they’ve developed a tight collaborative dynamic creating visually bold, scroll-stopping work for brands such as eBay, Sony, Asics, and Smirnoff.
‘’Now we’re at HYDW, we’re on a mission to create inception-level ads that bring you high-octane comedy,’’ Will&Sej.
The duo claimed their reputation as standout directors, with their short film, Sweet Juices. Described as a “masterpiece of filth”, it swept the genre cinema world, winning not only Jury Mention at Montreal’s Fantasia, but also Best Picture at Austin’s Fantastic Fest. Most recently the short film earned them their first Australian Directors Guild nomination for Best Direction of a Short Film. Sweet Juices has had an outstanding run on the short-film circuit, so much so that the project is currently in development to be turned into a feature film.
‘’It was actually Sweet Juices that first caught our eye. It’s impossible to watch something that wild, cooked, and so incredibly unique and not think, ‘I need to work with these people’,’’ explained Tom Rickard, executive producer & head of commercial at Haven’t You Done Well.
Since launching the new commercial wing of Aunty Donna’s production company a few months back, Haven’t You Done Well has produced a string of work for brands such as Superloop, Jetstar, & the Road & Safety Advisory Council of Tasmania.
“As a production company that spans not only the commercial space but also film and television, there is such a holistic match with directors like Will&Sej. We’re excited to see what projects we can cook up across all areas of the business,” added Georgia Mappin, executive producer & managing director of Haven’t You Done Well.
The addition of Will&Sej to the roster at Haven’t You Done Well furthers its aim to amplify Australian alternative comedy for the international stage through its ability to connect with audiences and its in-depth understanding of comedy consumption across all platforms.
