When the chief executive officer of Whispir, Jeromy Wells, announced that he was hosting an exclusive event, Holt Design began to think embossing and metallics.
The brief included the request to make the work evocative of the modernist glamour of the Golden Age and the Roaring Twenties.
Even better, the event was to be held in one of Melbourne’s most famous Art Deco skyscrapers, the Manchester Unity Building.
So the studio dubbed the event a ‘happening’ and titled it ‘Future Deco’, then set to work designing a hand-delivered invitation, that uses multiple high-spec, labour intensive finishes to communicate exclusivity and prestige unequivocally.
A geometric pattern was created, inspired by the linear motifs of the Art Deco period. This was debossed into the exterior of the bespoke, metallic printed envelope. When the interlocking tabs are opened, they revealed a graduated pink to yellow print on the envelope’s inside.
The invitation within was letterpressed with silver foil edging. The reverse incorporates a pink to purple graduated print and the pattern showcased in silver foil.
