In 2024, Visit Oslo introduced the world to Halfdan, a local who isn’t exactly a fan of his city. In his films, he complains , “Is it even a city?” – in detail. Meanwhile, the film’s scenarios shred his arguments. The anti-ad was a hit, amassing more than 15 million organic views.
So this year, Oslo agency, NewsLab, has brought back Halfdan (actor, Bendik Aunan) – as grumpy as ever. But this time Oslo locals have something to say – or rather, sing, – about that. The new musical anti-ad has so much more than the perpetually morose Halfdan’s sarcasm. There are adorable singing children and a choir of super-fan locals…there’s even a Machiavellian rabbit.

The new film, It’s Totally Even a City, playing on the original Is It Even a City?”, was directed again by August Jorfald and aims to attract visitors during Oslo’s colder months, traditionally a tougher sell for tourists.
