Portugese vinegar brand, Cristal, and agency, Judas, have launched a jewellery range made with vinegar crystals. Because “a touch of vinegar makes everything precious”.
For a very specific audience, which includes the Kardashians, vinegar is seen as an “elixir of the gods”. It’s cool, it’s a must-have in the best recipes, it has many health benefits, and can be accounted for many other good things. But for the general public, vinegar is just a poor cousin, not cool enough to hang with olive oil or with the many spices people use to enhance their food. The choice is purely functional. It doesn’t matter the brand or the quality of the product. Vinegar is not valued at all.
Vinegar brand, Cristal, is the most traditional Portuguese brand in its sector. So, naturally, it feels a responsibility to elevate the category as a whole, highlighting how vinegar is a natural product that has much more value and potential than people think. To show that “a touch of vinegar makes everything precious”.

The Cristal Vinegar Jewels collection was born when Judas discovered that by putting vinegar in stones, and leaving them in the right conditions, unique crystals are born. The agency invited jeweller, Tania Gil, famous in Portugal for her nature-inspired jewellery designs, to create the first-ever collection of jewellery made with vinegar crystals. The collection follows the organic design trend and has “the drop” as its central idea.
The jewels became advertising, and documentaries, and were offered to some of the biggest Portuguese celebrities. They will soon also be on sale on Critsal’s website.
