Hello, creators of Down, Down Deeper Down. Let’s call the race to the bottom a tie between you and The Fresh Food People.
What if, Down Down, six and a quarter million people got off on your ad in two weeks? Perhaps you wouldn’t have to give your customers $20 cash back and an extra 50 cents from Weet-Bix profits to stop them from going to another supermarket next time?
The commercial below by creative superstars, Jung von Matt, is for a supermarket chain just like you, Edeka, which has more than 7,000 stores across Germany. It is a response to advertising onslaughts by cheap, cheap rivals, Lidl and Penny.
The weird rapper is 58 year old performance artist, Friedrich Liechtenstein (real name: Hans-Holger Friedrich). The ad is an Edeka version of his European hit song, Der Tourist,
Creatives, in case you missed Jung von Matt’s genius idea for Mercedes last year, here it is again. Note: the commercial is to promote Mercedes’ Magic Body Control, stability feature.
