Buy this. Use that. Like us…People are always being told what to use, do or buy. So Lapiz/Leo Burnett told Nintendo users not to use the console.
In one of the cleverest carpe diems this Halloween, the ad suggested to gamers that they turn off their consoles during the Halloween weekend and go have fun outside – with the ad message, “Don’t be afraid to turn it off. Happy Halloween”.
The unusual initiative by the agency from Chicago is, in fact, totally aligned with the thinking behind the brand. Nintendo is an ardent advocate of the importance of taking breaks and being active, and includes messages to get up and get active in its games.
And, of course, it underlines the idea that Nintendo’s games are the hottest.
A pair of WiiU controllers left on a table with the shape of a bat worked as a humorous reference to the fun to be had at Halloween.
