Iced tea is for grannies? OK, but Liquid Death’s grannies are the meanest heavy metal band and with wilder stunts than Jackass. All of which fits into Liquid Death’s devilish brand personality – and makes its iced tea cool. Liquid Death’s iced tea has no intention of being underestimated with names such as Grim Leafer, Armless Palmer and Rest In Peach.
Liquid Death’s grannies rock martial arts, punk rock, parkour … and an explosive stunt that really, really!! shouldn’t be tried at home. It’s an energy drink ad on steroids for an “energy drink” (tea has caffeine in it naturally) that even a grannie would approve of. It mocks both the hype of energy drink ads and the dullness of iced tea advertising.
And the grannies? Well, they’re Liquid Death co-founder & CEO, Mike Cessario; Liquid Death brand VP of marketing, Greg Fansl; skater & MMA fighter, Jason Ellis; indie rocker, Jen Razavi; comedian, Shapel Lacey; and skater, Dane Burman.
The campaign was created in-house.
Tony Gardner, SFX & makeup behind the Chucky doll and Daft Punks headgear created the grannies’ faces.
Jackass co-creator, Jeff Tremaine, directed the campaign.
