You so rarely put “trucker” and “emotive” together in your head, but the creatives at McCann Canada did and the result is a story for fuel company, Petro-Canada, that packs a punch.

It’s the story about a little girl’s lost stuffed bunny and the trucker who returned it to her. It’s also acclaim for Canada’s long-haul truckers, who play an essential part of daily life in a country as vast as Canada, subtly underlining the care they take as they transport essentials across the country.

The two-minute film, Special Delivery, part of the brand’s Live by the Leaf platform, avoids the trucker clichés, big rigs, powerful machinery, tough men. It touches on the rigours of the job, the isolation of being on the road, and the humanity of the drivers. Special Delivery was built from the true story of a trucker in British Columbia, and the mother’s whispered dialogue to comfort her daughter was based on a real conversation between the mother and daughter during the casting process.
