Following on from last week’s Feast of Football World Cup-themed teaser, Aldi’s full length Christmas ad veers off in a completely new direct. It’s a carrot-y version of the classic 1990 movie, Home Alone. The story retains its children’s storybook format but includes a very naughty moment. Kevin becomes embedded in a snowman in a place where his (erect) penis might be. And yes, this has already begun to be a talking point in the UK.
The campaign aims to highlight the importance of family togetherness at Christmas. Like so many brands this year and especially UK retail brands, it also includes a charity element, a scene in which Kevin’s kids give their pocket money to Aldi’s food poverty charity partner, Neighbourly. Brand ambassador, Marcus Rashford, makes his second appearance in a Kevin ad as Marcus Radishford.
The commercial made its TV debut on ITV during I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, and will be supported across digital, out of home, print, radio and social.

“Christmas celebrates the joy of being with loved ones and this year more than ever we all need a bit of light entertainment as we celebrate the season together,” stated Adam Zavalis, marketing director at Aldi UK. “And it wouldn’t be the festive season without Kevin the Carrot on our TV screens, and this year’s Yuletide performance is sure to get the nation shouting ‘Kevin!’ as we welcome him back for the seventh year.”
