McCann Worldgroup has kept its hold of the global creative account for Just Eat (Menulog in Australia), which has been expanded. The three other contenders were adam&eve/DDB, Bartle Bogle Hegarty and TBWA\London. McCann London won the global account in 2018. It will continue to work with McCann in Australia onthe business, as well as Canada and Amsterdam.
The review came after the UK’s Just Eat merged with Dutch rival, Takeaway.com. An even bigger acquisition of US company, Grubhub will be completed this year.
Following a number of successful global and local Australian campaigns, the brand reported a 104% YOY order growth across ANZ, with 166% YOY growth in Q4.
Menulog marketing director, Simon Cheng, stated “McCann has been a key strategic and creative partner amid a period of rapid growth here in Australia. Their work localising our global Snoop campaign, in particular, has been outstanding, including shooting new Australian work with Snoop during the height of the pandemic and originating our record-breaking TikTok Delivery Dance campaign. We are delighted to be able to continue this great relationship to deliver even more in 2021.”
With orders increasing globally by over 42% last year, Menulog Australia and New Zealand is the fastest growing market within the Just Eat Takeaway.com Group.
McCann creative chairman, Ben Lilley, said, “Menulog is a brilliant McCann client and testament to our focus on creative delivery like a G. We’re really proud of the growth and results our work together has achieved for Menulog and look forward to continuing to be part of their incredible success.”
Susan O’Brien, vice-president brand at Just Eat Takeaway.com, said: “Following careful consideration and a high standard of work from all pitching agencies, we’re delighted to appoint McCann as our global creative agency partner. McCann has significant experience working with multinational businesses at a global level and will play an important role in helping us to execute creative campaigns with a unified brand voice across all of our operating markets. The team showed clear ambition and delivered a fantastic pitch and we’re very much looking forward to continuing to work with them.”
Recent local work by McCann Australia and Menulog has included a colourful State of Origin TVC featuring a kick-off from Snoop Dogg himself, a nostalgic ‘90s inspired low-rider spot celebrating the brand’s most recent partnership with Macca’s and a TikTok campaign that inspired over 21.5 million Aussies to be part of the Menulog Delivery Dance.
McCann’s jingle, Did Somebody Say…? has been embedding itself in people’s brains since May 2019.
Last year, Snoop Dogg added to its fame in a series of commercials.
