Little flames bring the heart to this year’s charity campaign for De Warmste Week (The Warmest Week), an annual solidarity initiative by Mutany Agency and Eddy for VRT Television. The flames, the Warmste Week logo, star in the felt puppet animation directed Eddy’s Stéphane Berla to highlight the contrast between warmth and cold, revealing the opposition between loneliness and community.
Warmste Week is organised each year during the week before Christmas and supports 270 projects aimed at combating poverty. This year, Warmste Week is mobilising against loneliness, as studies show that one in two Flemish people sometimes suffer from loneliness.
“Loneliness is often invisible, so we needed to find a different visual way to make this problem perceptible. By giving the little inner flames their own personality, we hope that people will be able to identify with them or recognize other people and that beyond signing up for an action, they will also try to combat loneliness in their daily lives,” stated Ruben Van Maldeghem, creative director at Mutant.
The spot was produced entirely in-house at Eddy Studio, and is underlined by a moving cover of Journey’s song, Don’t Stop Believin’, performed for the campaign by Belgian artist, Portland.
