Adland’s Super Bowl is played between insurance companies on our TV screens. O&M’s dream team is a pair of blokes on loan from the beer ad genre.
AAMI’s Neil and Gaz were originally cast by director, Tim Bullock. The first campaign – TVCs, video content (YouTube & Pre-rolls), digital display, outdoor and press – established that AAMI’s Flexi Premiums are an easier way to save than sharing bath water or using the office fridge like a free hotel mini bar.
Now the pair has dressed up – or down, actually.
Will the boys will be boys stories of Neil and Gaz amuse Australia like the love stories of Rhonda and Ketut? Time will tell. The series has taken a turn down laugh out loud street this week.
“This new TVC provides a strong product message combined with typical AAMI humour. Neil and Gaz are very relatable and carry AAMI’s messaging in a likeable way. We can’t wait to see what they do next….” O&M Melbourne’s executive creative director, Brendon Guthrie, thinks so.
In the new instalment (the first of three) directed by Tim Bullock, Neil and Gaz are on the way to a costume party. But when they careen into a fire hydrant so they don’t run over a cat, the pair seize a classic opportunity ti impress a girl…
…which doesn’t go to plan.
But does underscore AAMI’s above and beyond customer service.
“The latest executions further strengthen AAMI’s position as an innovative company that always looks to offer superior service, but also keeps true to the brand’s slightly exaggerated, character-driven method of storytelling,” explained Ogilvy & Mather Melbourne general manager, Michael McEwan.
“By highlighting the hysterical misfortune of Neil and Gaz, the latest creative allowed us to show how AAMI’s customer service can save their customers from the most unbelievable of situations.”
The 45-second TVC will appear on pay and FTA, and is backed by digital display, outdoor and press.
