You might expect Ogilvy Melbourne to do the obvious, to take AAMI’s AFL sponsorship campaign into the world of football. Many have done so. Ogilvy hasn’t. It has brought football into the world of insurance, added humour (also unexpected) and created two very entertaining films that stand out from the crowd with AAMI at the forefront.
The launch films show AFL brand ambassadors, Richmond captain, Trent Cotchin, and Western Bulldogs captain, Marcus Bontempelli, in tricky situations that “could’ve been a clanger” if it weren’t for the assistance of AAMI.
The TVCs are running nationally, supported by out of home, social, digital, radio and through the line communications.
Toby Gill, AAMI marketing manager, commented, “The AFL plays such an important role in our marketing mix each year, and we’re thrilled to have Trent & Marcus as ambassadors to build on our AAMI DOES platform and leverage our Clangers AFL campaign for the 2021 season.”
David Ponce de Leon, executive creative director, Ogilvy, added, “In footy, having a top performing talent can be the difference between winning and losing. Much like having the right insurer can make all the difference when it comes to clangers at home or on the road. We were delighted to have the opportunity to work with such amazing AFL talent and show Australians that when it comes to clangers, AAMI DOES what other insurers don’t.”
