When they’re online or on their phones – and they so often are – young people talk in emojis. So to reach them with the NHS’ message about safe sex, Ogilvy UK did too.
The result is Unprotected Text, a series of light-hearted emoji animations that carry a serious message, that 16-24 year-olds are more at risk for STIs. Diagnoses of sexually transmitted infections have risen considerably among this age group over the past five years.
