At ten years of age, Pornhub is a very mature marketer. For the last two Christmases, it has created ads based on bull’s-eye insights. It has a sexual wellness centre to look after its customers – or community, which is what Pornhub has been able to turn them into. Its community contributes enthusiastically to its bank of amateur porn. It has a porn trivia site and even a philanthropic arm, Pornhub Cares. And it has a following of 656,000 on Twitter.
Officer & Gentleman: Pornhub turns a lonely night into a joyful Christmas Eve
It’s not secretive. It’s not shy. It makes porn “everyday” and these attributes have probably contributed to its becoming big business. 75 million people visit its site every day, where there are 5 million videos to choose from.
So, of course it’s going to make a big deal of its 10th birthday. And it’s going to get its community involved. Pornhub has launched a Twitter hashtag contest, encouraging fans to post amateur porn pictures and videos that show what the site has taught them, using the hashtag, #PHtaughtme. The best 100 will win of 10-year memberships to its HD, on-demand streaming service, Pornhub Premium.
Promoting the anniversary and its contest is a humorous commercial by Pornhub’s (Spanish) ad agency, Officer & Gentleman, that reminds people porn ideas are everywhere.
Let’s not overlook the fact that the contest is a gift to Pornhub customers that will keep giving back. Pornhub will have an even bigger collection of amateur porn for its community and its community will have an even bigger collection of amateur porn to view.
The contest judges, who were chosen from the Pornhub social media team and marketing teams, will pick the 100 winners on July 1. Entries will be judged on originality, creativity and humour.
Pornhub has also created an anniversary site with the commercial, an interactive timeline of porn milestones and an infographic about Pornhub’s use and users, and various top ten charts (porn categories, hottest porn stars etc).
