Cheil UK saw the hype around baby George’s first birthday as an opportunity to good to let pass. So the agency created a billboard in Piccadilly Circus for Samsung on the day, July 22.
The ad shows images of baby George’s birthday party, with a noticeable absence of royals. Because it’s the birthday party of George Jagger.
George Jagger is the son of a family from Matlock in Derbyshire.
“Prince George’s birthday presented us with the perfect opportunity to seize the moment, and have a bit of fun with the public,” Matt Pye, the chief operating officer at Cheil UK, commented.
The outdoor ad is part of a full campaign called 100 Days of Family, that launched in June and celebrates the diversity of modern British family life… and also makes a point about the pro quality of the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom camera.
Its hub is an online site, Speak Pictures, hosting images submitted by 50 families, with all the stills and films taken using the Galaxy K Zoom. The Jagger family is one of these.
George’s mother, Rachel Jagger, photographed her son George’s first birthday, which falls on the same day as the royal George.
Her images are on display on the big screen in Piccadilly with copy that encourages passers-by to visit Cheil UK’s Samsung 100 Days of Family website to view the pictures of baby George’s birthday party.
The Jaggers will continue to document their stories during the British summer using pictures shot with Samsung’s Galaxy K Zoom phone.
Ines van Gennip, marketing director for the IT and mobile division of Samsung UK and Ireland, stated, “We know from our research that especially families are looking to combine the practicalities of a smartphone with the benefits of a very advanced camera that capture those special moments of their lives that they can share together.”
