Alliance4Europe wants people to vote in the European elections. It wants millennials to vote in particular. The organization doesn’t want only opponents of Europe to turn up at the polls.
Alliance4Europe is an informal, independent network of fifty NGOs from and initiatives from twenty-five EU member states. On May 13, it sent out a musical appeal to the whole of Europe. A music video anthem. A cover of Friends Will Be Friends by Queen.
The objective of the campaign is to mobilise three million non-voters to cast their vote in the elections on May 26. The last time a new European Parliament was elected, only 43.09% of all eligible voters actually cast their vote.
The music video will be released across Europe, spearheading a campaign, #vote4friendship.
The campaign has the support of Serviceplan Group, Deutsche Post Foundation, BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt, ARB, CoInvest, Pulse of Europe, The Good Lobby and prominent advocates such as Ulrich Wickert, Christopher Clark, Timothy Garton Ash and Nick Stern.
Serviceplan Group has been supporting Alliance4Europe since autumn 2018 with expertise ranging from communications strategy to PR. The agency, Serviceplan Campaign 1, came up with the creative concept of the #vote4friendship campaign and managed its entire implementation.
The music video features thirty artists from twenty-eight countries. As well as the musicians, the video also features people from every European country who are coming together to support the campaign’s pro-European message. Soul and funk artist, Oceana, from Germany; Portuguese singer, Virgul, and Swedish alternative rockers, Normandie, are not only making a musical contribution, but showing their commitment to the idea of a pan-European friendship in emotional video statements, which they are actively sharing with their national and international fans and followers.
“By staying silent, millions of EU citizens, who enjoy living in a united Europe and reap its benefits on a daily basis, are opening the door to a radical minority that wants to jeopardise our Europe,” stated Sonja Stuchtey, initiator and managing director of Alliance4Europe.
