The Misfits Media Company, official Australian representative of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, has announced the winners and runners up from this year’s Young Lions competition.
The four winning teams across marketing, digital, film and media categories of this year’s Young Lions Competition were chosen out of 20 finalist teams who completed the second round of the competition in late August. Four runners up teams were also announced.
For the second round of the competition, the idea was to replicate the competition that takes place in France at the Cannes Lions Festival.
Young Lions Australia teamed up with not-for-profit partner, VICHealth, to deliver a brief, with the teams then having just 24 hours (and 48 hours for Film finalists) to come up with their responses.
They then presented their response the following day to a panel of judges in just 10 minutes with 10 minutes allocated to questions from the jury.
Kathryn Carter, general manager, ANZ, SEA & HK at Snap Inc stated, “I want to congratulate every single finalist here today. Turning around a brief in 24-48 hours is no easy feat. Throw in a pandemic and it’s a different ball game entirely. I don’t doubt that the challenges were greater as you had to navigate the restrictions and hurdles that came with these crazy times.
“But from the submissions I’ve seen, your passion, enthusiasm and talent certainly did not go unnoticed. I’m truly inspired by your determination and creativity. And I’m certain that each of you will continue to go on to do great things. And I look forward to seeing you build your careers. “
Rosie Oakshott, general manager commercial for the Misfits Media Company said: “This competition has reminded us of the creativity and innovation required from our young people during this time. It’s these people who will help us come out the other side.
“A huge thank you to the sponsors who made this all happen. Thank you to Snapchat, The Trade Desk, Stocksy, Real Media Collective and Creative Product Enterprise. Our sponsors really get behind this program and are super involved from start to finish so a massive thank you to them all, especially Snapchat.”
