Squeak E. Clean Studios has moved senior producer, Angelina Phengphong, to its Chicago studio to expand the company’s post offerings across its three US studios.
Phengphong spent four years at Nylon Studios before the company merged to form Squeak E. Clean Studios and has been an integral force in continuing to bolster Squeak E. Clean Studios’ post presence in Australia, combining her marketing and production experience with a passion for film and music to become a post producer extraordinaire.
Her expertise is apparent across broadcast commercials, radio, TV, documentaries, podcasts, VR, gaming and sonic branding projects and she has worked with some of the world’s leading agencies and international brands such as Samsung, United Nations, and Hyundai. Phengphong’s awards include some of the world’s top Sound Design accolades – including a shortlist sport for a Cannes Lion alongside Squeak E. Clean’s joint executive creative director and sound designer, Simon Lister.
Her abilities grow from her belief in the power of sound in storytelling. Phengphong has a particular interest in exploring ways brands can engage with their audiences through the craft of audio. She began her career in the production side of the industry, working as a PA on various indie feature films before joining Nylon Studios in Sydney. There, she worked closely with ECD, Simon Lister, as well as the studio’s line-up of in-house sound designers and mixers and fell in love with post-production, becoming involved in projects with some of Australia’s top directors and celebrity talent, including Cate Blanchett and Sam Neill.
Squeak E. Clean Studios managing director Hamish Macdonald, commented, “Ange is a tremendously talented post-producer, who for the last 5 years has been managing a high volume of premium creative audio work out of our Australian studios. Now with our sound design and mix offerings across all three US studios growing at a rapid rate, Australia’s loss is the U.S.’s gain, as we are excited to have a dedicated and experienced producer to oversee the department. Not only that, she will be a huge asset to ECP, Chris Clark, and our incredibly talented Midwestern team.”
Phengphong added, “Squeak E Clean has such a tremendous offering with our collaborative music and sound departments. Music and sound design are so interconnected that when you have this seamless workflow and creative alignment, like we do at Squeak E., magic happens. I’m very excited to join the amazing team here and bring my production experience to grow our post offerings across the US.”
Phengphong’s move to Squeak E. Clean Studios Chicago comes off the heels of recent additions to the global team in the first two months of 2021, including the addition of Michael “MG” Gross as executive creative producer and Matthew “Cornbread” Compton as senior composer out of Los Angeles, and Amanda Patterson stepping into the national role of Head of Production.”and Amanda Patterson stepping into the national role of head of production in the US.
