TBWA\Chiat\Day New York has already built a seven-year history of creating quirky films that amp up the appeal of the Brooklyn Film Festival.
This year the Brooklyn Film Festival is going virtual. Its line-up of 140 films will be screened entirely online for free with registration. People won’t even have to live their (dis)comfort zone, their living room to watch the films in the same way they have been interacting with life for the last months – virtually.
This year, TBWA\Chiat\Day needed to rely on existing footage – and where better to find that than in the shortlisted films? So TBWA scoured these for little pieces that could be transformed into a series of “refresher courses”, reteaching some of life’s most basic interactions such as How to be a Sports Fan, How to Hug and, How to Have Dinner Parties. The films will run on TV and online.
Chatting Without Your Phone is the first in the Relearn How to be Human creative series. Its footage comes from Brooklyn Film Festival 2020 submission, Blocks, by director, Bridget Moloney. The tongue-in-cheek creative shows people how to behave as normal humans in a normal society once social distancing is a mere memory.
Ricard Valero, executive creative director TBWA\Chiat\Day New York, commented, “Independent film offers a raw, uncut, and honest look at what it means to be human. After months of sheltering in place, TBWA\Chiat\Day NY’s latest creative for Brooklyn Film Festival is helping us remember how to stay human.”
The films are supported by a series of irresistible posters:
