Wonders Never Cease is mystery romance about two rival treasure-hunters trying to outdo each other with increasingly spectacular discoveries.
The competition (and their competitiveness) intensifies as they reveal miraculous artefact after miraculous artefact. Then, one day, they reveal almost identical relics – that they have found at opposite ends of the earth.
How can this be?
Of course, the real wonder is that a fashion brand has created a brand film with an intelligible and interesting story. It even has a narrator (not to mention, a narrative, also).
And it is a great story. A metaphor even. A metaphor about rivalry and collaboration. Very now, yes?
And rather than yet another behind-the-scenes/making of video, Ted Baker has created an “annotations” website, that connects the clothes (AW15 collection) to the story (albeit in arty-farty fashion language. Sigh.)
The four and a half minute brand film was shot over five nights in London’s Natural History Museum by Crowns & Owls, a collective of three UK filmmakers, and produced by White Lodge.
