BBDO New York did not choose the safe option for its first campaign for new client, Bud Light. But after all, it is for the Super Bowl, and anything goes when the stakes (up to US$4m for 30 seconds) are high and you’re stuck in a crowd (59 ads last year).
Six strangely magnetic teasers have been released and will run during sports programming in the lead up to the big day. Two ads have been promised for the Super Bowl broadcast.
“Our six Super Bowl ad teasers give viewers a peek behind the curtain, but fans will have to tune-in during the game to see how these seemingly unrelated events form one cohesive story,” Bud Light vice president, Rob McCarthy, stated. “One cohesive story” [?!] Watch four of the teasers below, then wonder how.
The new tagline is The Perfect Beer for Whatever Happens. Whatever happens in the little spots is pretty weird. In one, there’s a llama. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGq_b_RJuV4
In another, Regular Bud Light brand booster, Reggie Watts, goes off with a mic.
Arnold Schwarzenegger loses all the dignity that a spell in office afforded him…
