Uncommon Creative Studio continues the create work that aligns with British Airways’ A British Original positioning. This time, Uncommon is highlighting the airline’s “travel essential” features (and the brand’s understanding of its customers’ needs) using marble statues. The statues reflect how British Airways’ benefits aren’t subject to change and its travel essentials on offer are set in stone.

Each of the seven sculptures was inspired by a real European statue and tied to a destination served by British Airways — only the most famous and unique statues from around the globe were selected.

The classic figures were then reimagined with a modern twist – a Gargoyle on a Smartphone representing WiFi messaging, a Cherub with a Passport symbolising Central London airports, and a Statue of David with Shopping Bags to highlight British Airways’ travel experience.

Scott Dungate, CCO at Uncommon Creative Studio London, commented, “To show British Airways’ travel essentials, we chose to carve them in stone, to reflect its commitment to providing the best service on short-haul flights across Europe. The statues took inspiration from classic European sculptures, but reimagined to show the essential benefit- like the gargoyle hunched over texting on the free WiFi. My personal favourite.”
The details were first hand-sketched, merging classical artistry with contemporary elements — then brought to life through 3D renders. Finally, the statues were staged, lit and photographed to emulate the atmosphere and perspective of a genuine museum exhibit.
