Beer ads fill their stories with “I wish” scenarios. Ads disguise themselves as anything but ads. Uncommon and boutique brand, Brewdog, are doing neither. The outdoor ad tells it like it is – it’s an advert.
The bus ad tells you it’s an “advert on a bus”.
The TVC is 30 seconds of an image of a Brewdog can, the word, advert, and a heavy metal track, Bleed by Meshuggah, no human being could possibly ignore. The spot ran during Game of Thrones. “No one” in the UK could have missed it.
The campaign is Uncommon’s first for the brand.
Nils Leonard co-founder at Uncommon, stated, “The ad break in GoT is one of the most prestigious media slots in the cultural calendar. Brands often spend big here, investing in massive narratives and slick films often referencing the show they sit around. So, we didn’t.
“The magazine you notice on a busy shelf is the one with the least on the cover. Ad breaks for shows this big are a jazz salad of messages, so we set out to make the simplest, most honest message we could.”
