On Thursday September 14, the first ever global cinema campaign, #wehaveaplan for the United Nations Global Goals, will launch in Australia via Val Morgan.
The campaign to end poverty, fight inequality and tackle climate change launches the day before another world first.
On Friday September 25 at the United Nations in New York, 193 United Nations world leaders will adopt 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development, a series of ambitious targets to bring about significant global change by 2030. This initiative is backed by governments and global communities.
The new Sustainable Development agenda will “guide all countries on a path that will transform the lives of everyone towards increased prosperity and greater well-being whilst protecting the environment.” The agenda involves everyone on the planet…
…and the Global Goals campaign supporting this effort has a simple aim – to share and spread the goals to every person on earth. That’s 7 billion people in 7 days!!
Behind the campaign is the knowledge that worldwide awareness is the catalyst that will give the agenda a greater likelihood of full implementation. The signing of the Global Goals by 193 world leaders provides a platform for citizens of the world to hold their governments accountable.
The United Nations has entered into a partnership with SAWA (The Global Cinema Advertising Association) to use the power of cinema to engage and inform cinema audiences internationally.
“Cinema is the perfect medium to reach global audiences with the 60 second #WEHAVEAPLAN commercial,” Val Morgan stated.
#WEHAVEAPLAN was developed by filmmaker, Richard Curtis, (Love Actually, Mr Bean, 4 Weddings and a Funeral, Black Adder, Red Nose Day) and creative lead, Sir John Hegarty. Val Morgan Managing Director, Daniel Hill, met with the creators in Cannes to cement his support for this cause through the first ever global cinema campaign.
Val Morgan will deliver cinema roadblocks across Australia and New Zealand during the one week period for maximum audience scale and reach. It is the first international cinema roadblock of this magnitude undertaken in this region.
The humorous commercial is animated by Aardman, narrated by Liam Neeson and features music by Peter Gabriel. Audiences will be able to interact with the cinema ad and share the goals via the Global Goals interactive App which has been developed by CINIME International.
Val Morgan managing director, Daniel Hill, added, “The cinema environment can educate, inspire and influence people by changing hearts and minds. This campaign will demonstrate the power and relevance of the Cinema advertising medium, an environment where messages will be seen and heard.”
