Jeep’s Grand Wagoneer has a new look, lower starting price…and an advertising campaign that incorporates all the traditional car ad “essentials” in the most offbeat car commercial ever.
The social campaign, The Family SUV, by agency, Highdive, stars Iliza Shlesinger, pitching her provocative idea to the Jeep marketing team. That idea uses the Grand Wagoneer’s real review by car magazine, Jalopnik, as the best car to have sex in: “My personal pick would be the Jeep Grand Wagoneer. As someone who has managed alright in a Pontiac Solstice, the Wagoneer in comparison is a rolling Ritz Carlton. You could plan your entire date in the car, with room to spare,” reviewer Lawrence Hodge wrote.
As the Jeep team put up roadblocks – basically all the traditional car advertising clichés – to Shlesinger’s pitch – she deftly adapts her campaign idea, resulting in a hilarious three minutes of content that also highlights the car’s features.
Note: The classic advertising start of the commercial is voiced by Jeep brand CEO, Bob Broderdorf.
