What happens if you don’t get into the top 10 at AWARD School? Well, first up you’re devastated. You’ve been told that it’s the only key to that CCO job in your five year plan (because you have to get your first job in advertising to achieve it). Junior art director, Veronica Costi, didn’t get into the top 10 at AWARD School. But Ben Sampson, ex-CD at The Monkeys and now founder of freelance crew, Ravenous Mantis, gave her her first job in advertising anyway. If you’re an ad industry hopeful, Veronica’s story will inspire you. But let’s be real, this is also a promo for a thriving little collective that began two years ago and “randomly works with big agencies and tiny startups”. Either way, it’s a ripping good yarn (well done, Veronica) but please stop using apostrophes to make acronyms like CEO and DOP plural. It drives writers nuts.
