Sweden’s approach to managing Covid-19 stood out from that of the rest of the world. Jakob Marky’s response to the pandemic is also quirky. The creative mind is a wonderful thing to explore. Explore this:
“So, quarantine (hey, I know how to spell it now) happened. The world stopped spinning, maybe not so much in Sweden as in the rest of the world, but still, my daily life changed. Or so I thought.
“There were potentially months without filming ahead of us. Film has always been my escape from reality. When reality been too grim to face, I snuck into the cinema and took a break. Fantasy is always there as a way to survive.
“Ironically, I had just decided to take two months off, to focus on writing and follow up my ‘indie sensation’, my short The Midas Touch. Timing couldn’t have been better? Or? I turned out that my ‘self-isolation’ was stolen from me, and all of a sudden it was not my choice anymore, everyone was taking a break writing. It felt so mainstream. I had to find a way to cope.
“This video is my way of escaping reality for a while, ploughing through the very fascinating sides of stock footage, and finding a way to tell stories, when the world doesn’t spin as it used to.”
