Uncommon Creative Studio has appointed Will John as executive creative director in London. He joins from Saatchi & Saatchi UK, where he has spent the last fifteen years, and before that six at Saatchi & Saatchi in Germany. In London, he worked on major accounts such as Visa, John Lewis, EE and Deutsche Telekom, collecting more than 100 awards, including 25 Cannes Lions and 11 D&D Pencils. John joins Uncommon following the agency’s wins of BT and Under Armour, adding to its creative leadership team of ECDs, Julie Matheny, Josh Tenser and Albert Pukies; global creative partner, Sam Walker, and recent hire for Uncommon’s CX offshoot, ECD Tyler Hendy.
Uncommon holds a high standard for advertising creativity. The agency won five coveted Yellow Pencils at D&AD this year, as well as seven Golds and a Best of Discipline at The One Show, and a Grand Prix at Cannes Lions 2026 with The Ordinary’s The Periodic Fable. It was also named Creative Circle’s Agency of the Year for a sixth time this year and British Arrows’ Agency of the Year 2026.
Will John commented, “Uncommon has always stood out to me as a place that consistently produces some of the most exciting and influential work in the industry. I’m thrilled to be joining at such an exciting time for the studio, and I’m looking forward to building on that momentum.”
Nils Leonard, co-founder, Uncommon, added, “We’ve been trying to get Will through the door for a while now, so we’re delighted to have him here. He brings a rare mix of craft, ambition and leadership that helps those around him become better. We’re continuing to attract world class talent to the studio, and to be able to add Will to our stellar line up of creative leaders is incredible. I can’t wait to see how he impacts this next chapter at Uncommon.”
