Top Olympic athletes have hundreds of thousands of supporters. Top Special Olympic athletes do not.
The Special Olympics European Summer Games, September 9 – 20 in Antwerp wants to change that.
So it has chosen three top Belgian athletes, FIFA 2014 and Wolfsburg team player Kevin De Bruyne, ex-sprinter Kim Gevaert and tennis star Jean-Michel Saive to have their faces altered in an ad each – by replacing their eyes with those of someone with Down syndrome.
And the ads ask, “Does De Bruyne (Kim Gaevert or Jean-Michel Saive) deserve fewer supporters now?”
