When it’s not producing the D&AD Annuals, D&AD Best Advertising (by year), The D&AD Copy Book and D&AD 50 Years, Taschen keeps itself busy publishing other books.
Clearly, one of its more successful runs has been The Big Book Series. It’s not that hard to imagine why The Big Book of Breasts, The Big Butt Book, The Big Book of Pussy, The Big Book of Legs and The Big Penis Book have walked off the shelves, even in an era of people who don’t read much.
The Big Butt Book is the latest of these to come out in a 3D version.
I couldn’t write a funnier synopsis than Taschen has, so please read its:
“Sweet cheeks in 3-D: A cornucopia of delectably rounded, fully dimensional derrières.
“The Kama Sutra gives detailed instructions on how to spank it. Contemporary Italians touch it for luck before placing a bet. The female butt, tush, culo, or derrière has always inspired awe, fantasy, and slavish devotion, and now its yours – in state-of-the-art 3-D!”
As with its sibling tomes, The Big Book of Breasts 3-D and The Big Penis Book 3-D, original black and white photos have been converted to anaglyph 3-D by Jon Schnitzer and The Brain Factory.
This is done so subtly that images are minimally affected on the page – until you put on the red and blue anaglyph glasses included. Then the phrase ‘in your face’ springs to mind as particularly apt.
The book contains 110 images, many not seen in the original Big Butt Book. Its editor is Dian Hanson, who produced a variety of men’s magazines from 1976 to 2001, including Juggs, Outlaw Biker and Leg Show, before becoming Taschen’s Sexy Book editor. She has edited more than 60 sexy books for Taschen.
