Remember when First World problems made you feel like a spoilt brat for whinging about soy milk not being available for your morning coffee? Did you whinge during lockdown? Of course, you did.
180heartbeats + Jung v Matt’s campaign for Theatre 21 in Poland is going to make you feel very uncomfortable. In the campaign, Down syndrome actors from Theatre 21 read real comments found in social media during the lockdown. The video was created to show that for some the lockdown will never end. When lockdown ends, its actors will still not be able to get married, have a bank account or get a driver’s licence, as well as a host of other social activities.
The aim of the campaign is to raise money for the Centre of Inclusive Art in Warsaw, a place that will help people with disabilities express themselves by means of art. Theatre 21 is an initiative for people with autism and Down’s syndrome. It’s a movement that helps all disabled actors not only develop their passion but also teach others the principles of true diversity and inclusiveness. The theatre needs money to keep going so that its people with Down Syndrome will have a place where they will be able to prove their talents by means of acting.
The campaign film was produced by F25.
