Two new executive producer positions added and a head of production hired. Alt.vfx, Production Company of the Year 2017 at AdFest, is preparing to take on 2018 with gusto.
Tyrone Estephan has stepped up from his previous role as senior producer at Alt in Darlinghurst, to become the first new executive producer added to the Alt.vfx team. Estaphan has been at Alt for nearly two years, after building his career at Method Studios, Heckler and Animal Logic.
Aborah Buick joins Alt.vfx as executive producer from Heckler, where she was head of production. Buick created the foundations of her career at Cutting Edge, where she rose through the ranks from assistant producer to senior producer.
Estephan and Buick will work in Alt’s team of executive producers with founder & EP, Takeshi Takada, and LA-based Chris Fieldhouse.
Mark Thorley joins as head of production from Screen Queensland, where he was vice president of development and production. He arrives armed with financial and production expertise from previous roles, including executive in charge of studio operations at Lucasfilm Singapore and head of production at Animal Logic. Thorley will work with all of the artists and producers across the company’s studio locations in Australia and the US.
Dave Kelly, general manager, noted “We have been looking to bring Aborah and Mark on for a while now, and thankfully the time was right for that to happen. Tyrone has been doing an amazing job in Sydney, and Aborah will only enhance our offering to clients. Elsewhere, Mark’s extensive industry experience will bring new order and efficiencies to our production pipeline and set us up for our next stage of growth.”

“I am delighted to join the Alt crew having worked with both owners Colin Renshaw and Takeshi Takada a number of years ago,” Buick commented.
“I’ve watched them grow into serious players in the visual effects industry and I can’t wait to get started working alongside such an amazing team.”
“I’ve always admired how Alt have grown in reputation and stature and still managed to maintain that same boutique feel,” stated Thorley.
“My role will be to make sure we retain that essence, but continue to keep pushing the boundaries of creativity and technology, and produce the amazing work the company is famous for.”
