GUT has opened its tenth office, and its first in Asia. The new Singapore office launches one month after GUT opened its ninth office – in New York in September, and is GUT’s third new office opening this year. GUT Madrid launched in August. The agency, that is now a network has been a huge success for its founders and now co-creative chairmen, Anselmo Ramos and Gaston Bigio, who launched GUT in 2018 in Buenos Aires and Miami with the aim to be the go-to agency for the world’s biggest brands. In June this year, GUT became global network, Globant GUT Network, led by Gut’s creative, supported by Globant’s marketing and tech.
GUT Singapore will be the global creative network’s first office in Asia and tenth location overall. The new office will be led creatively by chief creative officer, Carlos Camacho, formerly of DAVID; with Jessica Davey, who joins GUT as managing director for Asia following a two-year stint as SVP, head of clients at Media.Monks APAC; and head of strategy, Belynda Sim-Mak, former cultural strategy lead at Le Pub APAC. They will report to GUT Global CEO Andrea Diquez.
“It’s amazing to be able to open our first office in Asia, and tenth overall, after just six years. This move makes GUT a truly global agency network that can service clients anywhere in the world. Having worked in the region, I know firsthand the incredible opportunity this market represents,” stated Andrea Diquez, global CEO. “I am thrilled to welcome Jess, Carlos and Belynda, three experts in this dynamic and diverse region, to help further accelerate our incredible growth.”
Carlos Camacho, a Cali-Colombia native, first moved to Asia in 2013, to join Lowe Asia Pacific as ECD, followed by ECD positions at J. Walter Thompson Shanghai and Wunderman Thompson Hong Kong and Amsterdam, and then the chief creative officer role at David Bogotá. Within two years, he had been named in Campaign Asia’s 40 Under 40, and at Wunderman Thompson Amsterdam his collaborative approach drove successful campaigns across the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore. Over the course of his career, he has spearhead projects for blue-chip global brands such as Unilever, HSBC, Vodafone, Bayer, Amazon, IKEA, Netflix, and AB InBev, won a Titanium Lion at Cannes, multiple statues at D&AD, Clios, Grand LIA, One Show, Spikes Asia, and a Grand Prix at Dubai Lynx.
“I have huge admiration for what GUT has achieved over the last six years and am excited to bring that bold and fearless spirit to Asia,” Camacho stated. “Our team is ready to push boundaries and create work that not only stands out but drives real growth and impact.”
