The 2015 Young Globals student competition and internship award has completed its third year as the only college/portfolio school competition for healthcare advertising.
“The Young Globals Award was designed to find the future impact makers, interrogators of truth and information the creative leaders who will ensure our industry is known for future thinking solution mavericks,” Jeremy Perrott, global chief creative officer, McCann Health, stated.
This year’s winners are:
- Samantha Cable, Australia, currently a junior copywriter at Leo Burnett Sydney, with Phone Zone. Samantha is a Miami Ad School Sydney graduate.
- Rajath Ramamurthy & Theresa Wlokka, Miami Ad School USA, with A Sleeve to Remember
- Brian Hodes, Pilar McQuirter, Antonio Perez & Sarah VonderHaar, Columbia College Chicago, USA, with Eat Smart
“I was truly moved by these students. They are our future and the Young Globals/Global Awards is helping us to bring their great talents to the forefront. 11,079.5 miles might separate them, and they each have their own culture, but one thing strongly resides within each one of them…creativity,” Scott Watson, chief creative officer of Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide, commented.
Young Globals student winners receive the Global Award as well as a paid internship with Global Awards partner sponsors, McCann Health and Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide, for a minimum of one month, based on their availability.
This year’s creative brief posed the challenge, “How do we make health second nature in our lives? Students were interviewed about their campaign by the chief creative officers of Young Globals sponsoring agencies – Jeremy Perrott from McCann Health and Scott Watson from Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide.
“Each group of students had their own way of interpreting the brief and in turn created exceptionally smart and creative ideas. Jeremy and I feel that our future in healthcare and advertising in general looks very promising. We should celebrate where this new wave of talent is headed and look to hire them as quickly as possible,” Watson commented.
The annual Young Globals competition accepts entries from students at university level, including portfolio centres, who are studying advertising, marketing, art, design, creative writing or similar creative courses.
The winners will accept their trophies at the 2016 Global Awards ceremony taking place on Thursday, November 17 in New York.
The 2016 Young Globals Competition will open on June 1, 2016. Learn more about the Young Globals competition here.
