For everyone who read the headline above and felt a sharp stab of panic, it’s OK. The deadline for entries is September 17.
Meanwhile, the judges have been finalised. There are two newbies:
Paul Nagy, executive creative director, Clemenger Sydney…and…
Toby Talbot, chief creative officer, DDB Sydney.
Talbot re-joined DDB in May from Whybin\TBWA New Zealand. He had been at the spearhead of DDB Auckland’s transformation into a formidable creative agency and was executive creative director at Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe / Y&R in London 2012-3. This is how his agency feels about him: “We have appointed Toby as chief creative officer at DDB Sydney to amplify our creative firepower and continue to develop effective, relevant and outstanding campaigns – he truly is a world-class talent.” (Andrew Little, chairman & chief executive officer, DDB Australia/NZ)
Nagy is a Clemenger BBDO stalwart. He was Clem’s creative director in New Zealand from 2005-10, and has been executive creative director in Sydney every since. His reputation stands on, “Recent years have seen him win back-to-back gold and silver Lions at Cannes, produce one of the top ten most awarded digital ideas on earth in 2009, and the New Zealand radio ad of the decade.”
The judges join fellow industry peers, returning ACES chairman Rob Belgiovane (executive creative director and founder, BWM), Georgie Charlish (marketing manager, Adstream) and Paul McIntyre (AdNews’ editor-in-chief).
ACES chairman, Rob Belgiovane commented, “With the ACES continuing to grow, we are expecting a strong response to the call for entry. I look forward to judging with Paul and Toby, who in their own rights are both highly regarded creatives, their points of view will be invaluable when it comes down to the winner.”
The ACES are hosted by Val Morgan in association with Adstream and AdNews. The ACES Awards are open to any locally produced creative that has aired on either cinema or TV in the past six months. Winners and finalists will receive points towards the AdNews annual agency rankings. The winner adds a $25,000 cinema media schedule, private movie screening and trophy.
