Both been promoted to creative directors.
Scott Dettrick & Barbara Humphries
Humphries, who began her career as a freelance illustrator and designer at Vogue, was the senior creative on the award-winning Spring Lamb campaign for Meat & Livestock Australia, and has also worked on brand platforms for Blackmores, Sydney University, Pauls and IKEA.
Her passion for ideas, writing and art direction guided Humphries into advertising, where she won her a job as a young creative at W+K Side, Wieden + Kennedy London’s talent incubator, in 2006. She was one of four chosen from thousands of applicants. Humphries returned home to Australia to become an art director/copywriter at Publicis Mojo before she joined The Monkeys in 2012.
Her work on Nike, Cadbury, Nestle, Victorian Tourism, Seafolly, Yellowglen and Penfolds, has helped her to build a a portfolio of globally awarded campaigns.
Humphries commented, “What appealed to me when I first joined The Monkeys is still true today: diverse, interesting and well-crafted work that works, in a building full of talented, smart and funny people who aren’t afraid to take risks and have fun in the process.”
Dettrick worked as an art director and designer at Mambo and Deus Ex Machina before he joined The Monkeys more than eight years ago. Since then, he has worked on campaigns for Qantas, Telstra and UBank. Most recently, Dettrick helped to lead The Monkeys’ Mambo documentary, Art Irritates Life, that aired on The ABC and iView and has been shortlisted for a Logie Award.
His other work includes the Sun Sound campaign for The Cancer Council which has been awarded internationally, the All I Need documentary for UBank (that won the Grand Prix at BEfest and has two shortlists pending in One Show) and the Qantas Out of Office Travelogue, which has 14 shortlists at One Show.
Dettrick commented, “It sounds cheesy but The Monkeys really is a place where anything can happen. If you have a good idea, advertising or otherwise, there is always support to help bring that idea to life.”
