Blink director, Samuel Abrahams, challenges the current way of doing everything online (except screening your film).
Samuel Abrahams is a writer & director whose career is punctuated by a number of awards already.
His short film, Connect, won the Jury Award at Brief Encounters International Film Festival and then a nomination for the British Academy Award for Best Short Film. His follow up, Hold On Me, won Best Short Film at the London Independent Film Festival. Both films have been inducted into the BFI National Archive.
Then there are his commercials.
And these two, for Milka & Crispin Porter + Bogusky…
…and Match.com & Mother London, perhaps contain hints about how Abrahams came to dream up his online film, Offline Dating:
In the six minute Offline Dating, Abrahams’ newly single friend, Tom Greaves, becomes an intrepid adventurer tackling the real world (or old school) challenge of asking girls on a date.
Tom, who lives in East London, simply approaches every girl he fancies, in everyday situations and locations, with the aim of meeting someone he wouldn’t have if he had stayed at home, scouring online dating sites for potential matches.
Along the way, he learns a bit about how to go from hi to first kiss – he even gets asked home for dinner – and he gets to show off his flair for storytelling in film.
