David Kolbusz, the chief creative powerhouse at Accenture Interactive’s Droga5 London, is leaving the agency after seven years for a new venture in the US, to be announced shortly. He will leave the agency in May.
Kolbusz joined Droga5 London in November 2015 as part of a new management team, which included chief executive officer, Bill Scott, and has helped the agency to become a creative force in adland UK. The agency had 35 staff at the end of 2015 now has 87. Prior to joining Droga5, Kolbusz was executive creative director at Wieden+Kennedy New York from 2014 to 2015. He had joined from BBH London, where he was creative director 2010-2 and executive creative director 2012-4. He has also held been part of the creative might at Mother and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.
Kolbusz commented, “I look back on my time at Droga5 with an enormous amount of fondness and gratitude. Six or so years ago, David entrusted me with the task of transforming the creative fortunes of the London brand and – alongside more talented people than I could possibly name – we gave it our best shot.
“I was given more support and encouragement than anyone in my position could possibly wish for and I hope David and the wider Droga crew are as happy with the results as I am. The long-term strategy was to keep hiring people with the taste and talent to continue making great work irrespective of who left the building and I’m confident that in my absence the UK office will keep thriving as long as the structural integrity of the serpent’s egg remains intact.”
With Kolbusz at the creative helm, Droga5 London won clients such as Amazon, Barclaycard, Coca-Cola, Kimberly-Clark, Rustlers, Mini and VW.
Highlight work includes Amazon’s 2020 Super Bowl ad starring Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi; the Mini short film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos; a feature film for Rustlers; a Uniqlo art installation directed by music artist, Solange; and campaigns for Amazon’s Prime Video, Barclaycard, Setapp and Diet Coke.
Scott was recently promoted to managing director across UK and Ireland following the departure of Karmarama founder and chief executive officer, Ben Bilboul, retaining his position at Droga5.
