What do you want for Christmas? It’s a question so often answered in ways that are anything but helpful, but gosh it makes a relatable – and very different Christmas commercial. It also allows Myer to step in as the knight in shining armour. Clemenger BBDO Melbourne has realised all of this.
Sop Myer’s Christmas campaign this year is Unriddle Christmas, which translates vague and confusing answers to the question, What would you like for Christmas?, into a shoppable list of perfect gifts.
The campaign has launched with a hero spot, The Vague Carol, which reinterprets the famous Christmas song, Joy to the World.
The film was previewed by Myer One loyalty program’s 5+ million members, before its run on TV, BVOD, OOH, digital, social, online and in-store. The campaign includes 3 x 15-second edits.

But one thing’s for sure, it’s been a joy to reimagine this classic tune with Fiona and the team. We hope this spot inspires some loud and proud Christmas carol singing. And of course, helps Australia Unriddle Christmas and turn those unhelpful hints into wonderful gifts.”
