People get really upset when they lose their wallets. Some panic. Some lose their temper. Some cry. Fact of life.
All Westpac had to do was solve it. And that’s exactly what DDB showed the bank doing.
There isn’t an adult alive who can’t identify with, Don’t lose it when you lose it – the DDB TVC for Westpac that launched on June 15. Who couldn’t like Westpac for its idea,Westpac Emergency Cash, that gives people a code to withdraw money from a Westpac ATM without a debit card when they’ve lost their wallet? Never mind all the other annoying things associated with losing a wallet that Westpac can’t solve. Most viewers won’t. This is an ad about being useful that is, in fact, a really strong feel good campaign.
Andrew Little, managing director, DDB Australia, stated, “This is another great proof point from the Westpac team. It makes our life easy when we have brilliant product and marketing teams creating innovation like this. Losing your wallet or leaving it at home is a nightmare no longer.”
Melbourne executive creative director, Darren Spiller emphasised that the creatives wanted to dramatise the new service by focussing on the emotional sise, “…Losing your wallet sucks. But for Westpac customers it now sucks a little less.”
The full campaign will run in mainstream, digital and social channels over the coming weeks.
