What would your future self think of your financial decisions? In Deutsch LA’s tongue-in-cheek musical theatre commercial for financial product search app, NerdWallet, some bad money handlers find out.

The spot, Future You, takes Millennials and Gen Zers to the year 2074. Their future selves are elderly now, they’re angry and they’re vocal about it.

This 90-seconds of fun was directed by O Positive’s Jim Jenkins, with Jury Duty’s Susan Berger and Community’s Patricia Belcher in its cast. It went to air in the US on December 25 during the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs VS Las Vegas Raiders game and during two NBA games, Philadelphia 76ers VS Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets VS Golden State Warriors. It will continue to run across broadcast, OTT digital and social channels.

The commercial fits into the new NerdWallet campaign, Don’t Make Future You Hate You, triggered by an online NerdWallet survey by The Harris Poll, in which 86% of Americans say there is some financial action they wish they would’ve taken sooner in life.
