AWARD has launched a new application workshop for aspiring students who really, really want to break into the industry.
It’s comprehensive one-day session, developed by the AWARD School NSW Heads, in which industry professionals will take students step-by-step through application tips, tricks, ammo and insider information.
Essentially, it’s everything a prospective AWARD School student will need to know to have the best shot at crafting a successful application.
In 2016, 500 people applied to AWARD School and only just over a third made it in. The workshop helps potential students understand what the judges will be looking for, how to communicate a great idea, and what they can expect from the experience of AWARD School.
The specific skills needed for a successful application include:
- Idea generation skills
- An understanding of the key creative tools for each media
- Presentation skills
Everything you need to know about the workshop is here.
AWARD has also appointed its AWARD School co-head for NSW in 2017. Brendan Willenberg, creative director at Clemenger BBDO, will join Niccola Phillips of M&C Saatchi to lead the school.
AWARD chair and managing partner of The Sweet Shop, Wilf Sweetland, commented, “We are honoured to have Brendan joining the AWARD Committee as School Head for NSW. As a former AWARD School top student, Brendan knows all too well how important it is to have access to industry leaders and mentors at the start of your creative career. Brendan and Niccola have developed this workshop with this in mind, to assist anyone who has the talent but lacks the confidence, to give AWARD School a shot. This course is part of the continuing AWARD initiative to provide the best creative education opportunities in the world.”
Willenberg added, “I owe a lot to AWARD School and it’s a great honour to be able to repay that debt and help a new batch of creative minds start their careers. I was energised by my early conversations with the committee about their ambitions for AWARD School and feel confident that we can make a difference to the industry, particularly on the issue of diversity.”
