Gigil and director, Kiran Koshy, tap into the frustration of every mum – the family’s late-night needs. The son has just let mum know he needs chart paper for school tomorrow; the daughter wants medicine for her stomach pain; the dog wants dinner. Tambling which means to tumble or flip, is used by Filipinos to show frustration when dealing with something stressful. The mum doesn’t tamble. She remembers GRAB Mart can do the flipping for her. Problem solved. A tumbling GRAB Mart delivery person becomes the metaphor for that service.

The relatable truth of the story is underlined by Koshy in the film by featuring very typical Filipino street life, such as kids playing the Chinese Garter game and a Balut (fertilised duck egg) vendor. Insanely, the film was shot in one night in Manila, with two units and four cameras.
