Just when you think sports brands were going to run the same ad ideas ad nauseam, Adidas changes the game. And agency, iris, has chosen the right moment to do so.
Adidas is relaunching its most famous football boot, Predator. “Worn by the likes of Zidane, Gerrard and of course, David Beckham, adidas’ Predator was THE football boot for decades,” adidas reminds the world.
The ad, Predator is Back, has music video feel and a fantasy edge. It’s shot in black & white with red used as spot colour – the colours of the boot. It’s set to the sexy song, I Put a Spell on You, by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins.
In the film, brand ambassador and Manchester United footballer, Paul Pogba, who fronts the ad has a magic touch – he makes dreams come true, turning everyday footballers into Manchester players (one wearing his number) and an everyday woman into an A-lister.
The new Predator 18+ 360 Control will be worn by international stars such as Pogba, Ozil and James Rodriguez, as well as Dutch internationals such as Blind, Cillessen, Wijnaldum, Dost, Toornstra and De Ligt.
The ad was created by iris creatives, Matt Carter and Jonathan Wedlake, Iris, and directed by Jonathan Augustavo through Skunk with production service by Sugar Free TV.
