AKQA has just launched your chance to find out (or prove yourself), the 10th annual Future Lions competition.
Entries into Future Lions 2015, aka Make Your Move, will attract the attention of hosts, AKQA and Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, and official partner, Google. Winning entries will be seen by adland’s movers, shakers (and hirers) at this year’s Cannes Lions Festival.
It’s free to enter. And this year, the competition has next to no rules.
The brief for next gen adpeople is to connect an audience of their choosing to a product or service from a global brand in a way that wasn’t possible three years ago. There are no rules in terms of media or technology, and no specifics around product, service, or target audience.
There’s just a deadline for entries: April 15, 2015 at 18:00 GMT.
Winning ideas will be applauded on Wednesday, June 24, in the Debussy Theatre at Les Palais des Festivals.
“It is always the up-and-coming generation that influences what’s coming around the corner. They are constantly pushing the boundaries of how we connect audiences around the globe. We are challenging young talent to make a move and shake up the industry with ideas that will shape the future,” Rei Inamoto, chief creative officer, AKQA, acknowledged.
1,760 students from 40 countries participated in the 2014 competition.
Last year’s winners were:
- Donate By Update for Apple + Product (RED) by Tim Blaney Davidson and Bastian Lievers
- Google Gesture for Google by David Svedenström, Ludwig Hallstensson and August Östberg
- Do Zero For Climate Change for Ben & Jerry’s by Fabian Lakander, Pia Hansson Näslund, Afshin Piran, Sebastian Sandberg and Linda Kraft
- HEARt Me for the Children’s Heart Foundation by Anne Walde and Nicole Schurz
- Passion is Power for IBM by Adam Radi and Mathias Trads
The five student teams submitting the best ideas will win registration to Cannes this year, and will receive a commemorative 10th Anniversary edition of the Future Lions trophy designed by AKQA.
Future Lions will also recognise the Future Lions School of the Year: the individual school achieving the most student submissions to reach the final round. In 2014, this went to Berghs School of Communication in Stockholm, Sweden.
