Photographer and director/DOP, Jon Bader, has joined Flint Sydney’s roster of creators with both stills and motion expertise.
His addition adds a new dimension to Flint’s capabilities in stills and motion production. Bader’s strong suit is food photography and direction. He joins Flint with recent work for McDonald’s, KFC, Westfield, Arnott’s, RSPCA and Australian Eggs in his backpack.
Most recently, Bader has been specialising in motion control techniques for motion capture and SFX, using his own digital motion control system that allows for repeated action across live action, stop frame animation and time-lapse.
He has also been working with a new programmable robotic camera arm that is especially suited for complex high speed camera work.
Jon Bader’s interest in still life and food imagery began while he was studying photography, film and television at Bournemouth & Poole College of Art. After graduating, he worked as an assistant to the foremost food and still life photographers of the day for the next two years before launching out on his own.
When Bader arrived in Australia 1987, he established himself as a food and still life photographer and has shot more than 50 cookbooks and countless magazine pages since. He branched out from editorial work in the early 90s, and produced advertising campaigns for Toyota, Sony, OPSM, Palmolive, Canon and Nestle.
Bader’s advertising work has continued to gain applause for its clean, modern edge with an attention to fine detail and Bader has become known for the aesthetic appeal of his work that demands attention.
Bader commented, “Expanding my skill set to include motion has been a natural progression for me. I’m excited to join the Flint team and continue to work across these types of campaigns.”
Bader is also passionate about food waste and is a long-time collaborator with OzHarvest, donating his time and expertise to making stills and video content for its work.
